The wood is bark free and free from grub holes, caused by the Monochamus spp larvae., defided for this purpose as those which are lager than 3 mm across, and originates in areas know to be free frome Monochamus spp., Pissodes nemorensis, P. strobi, P. terminalis, P. castaneus and Scolytus morawitzi.
